- That would be the "good" situation; otherwise it locks up using 100% CPU to the point that I received an error that said something along the lines of the task manager

Already have an account? Svchost 100 Cpu My issue is the computer completely maxes out and all 8 processes or on 100%. Why is the total CPU usage drastically different from the PID list total? (BONUS) Why isn't there any system PID showing up that correlates with the 85% system usage?
Although I know I'm not supposed to, I have several times just highlighted the offending svchost process and "stopped" it (sorry, I can't remember exact term).
