The other night, I "trans-graded" my Arch into Parabola GNU/Linux, installing all the libre software and what not. doubled fan speed etc. So as a result the daemon drives X's CPU utilization through the roof (and causes a bunch of EDID stuff to fill up the Xorg.0.log).

The only difference being that I installed 11.04 cleanly, whereas before I had upgraded from 10.10. The surprising entry there is that it is gnome-panel that is spending the most time actually drawing anything. I tried to install the appropriate graphics card driver and my system appears to be completely broken now. I started looking around and found the issue on many forums and posts. Most interesting is that it seemed to happen for both of us after upgrading (or "trans-grading") software.EDIT: By the way, I was also using Terminus as my lxterminal font. Xorg uses 80-100% CPU and the system isn't performing well -- OpenOffice is unusable and nautilus hangs a lot when I try to browse.
