Under Services (Local), scroll down until you find the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service and select Restart. It is most likely that some unknown application is running wmi quries against your computer. I have checked that the file is in the right path C:\windows\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe, I have also run McAfee, Spybot and Ad-Aware to check for malware. The SMS_AutoStartSoftware class does not handle these conditions correctly. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. All users have been off for some of this time but it seems to be fixed.

I have tried searching for malware, some infected files were removed, but this didn't improve performance. I checked the next day and they are all back to 97% - 100%.
