- The address bar is still Google but the search bar in the middle of the tab attracts my eye and before my brain catches up, there I am searching Yahoo.

I deleted all other startup homepage lines and left the one with my correct startup homepage. I have tried that but it did not get rid of the first tab. even though the font is set to black. his comment is here THIS IS THE ACTUAL ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM.

No user.js and yes, I did try deleting the prefs.js but that had no effect on the problem.
